The month of Rajab is the 7th Islamic lunar month. It is one among the four Islamic Sacred months – the “Haram Months” – the other three months being Muharram, Zilqad and Zilhajj. The Prophet (s.a.w.w) is reported to have said: “Rajab is the Month of Allah, Shaban is my month and the month of Ramadan is the month of Muslims.” Being the month of Allah, Rajab enjoys the specific advantage of being the month in which Allah’s Mercy towards his creation is at its highest.
Fasting, giving out in charity and asking for forgiveness from Allah ( ISTIGFAR) are highly recommended in this month. Our seventh Imam, Musa al Kazim (a.s) has said that Rajab is the name of a particular stream in paradise, the water of which is as pure as milk and as sweet as honey. Those who fast in this month will be invited to quench their thirst from the water of this stream on the day of Qiyamat.
May Allah enable us all to become deserving of the bounties of this Month . Rajab Mubarak!
